How to Use the 50/50 Mushroom Growing Kit: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Inject Spores

Wipe the black injection port with the alcohol swab provided. Do not wipe or heat the needle before use.
Inject 20ml of your spore solution into the substrate bag through the black injection port.

2: Incubate the Bag

Place the 50/50 substrate bag in a warm, dark place at 26-27Â°C. A Growbuddie40 is the perfect size for this project.
Wait for the spores to germinate and mycelium to start growing (7-10 days).

3: Mix the Substrate

When mycelium forms a golf ball-sized lump, break up the mycelium and mix it evenly through the substrate.
This will speed up colonization.

4: Full Colonization

Wait until the substrate is 95% white and colonized.
Once colonized, you can fruit the substrate.

5: Fruiting the Cake in a Bag

Remove the colonized substrate (the cake) from the 50/50 bag.
Roll the cake in the included sterilized vermiculite, then place it into the provided clean fruiting bag.
Spray the inside of the fruiting bag with a fine mist to create a humid environment.

6: Move into the Light

Place the fruiting bag in a well-lit area at 26-27Â°C.
Allow moisture to build inside the bag for 4 days. Do not open the bag during this period.

7: Fanning and Misting

After day 4, open the bag 3 times daily to fan fresh air inside for 40 seconds.
Mist the sides of the bag once in the morning to maintain humidity.

8: Harvesting

Once the mushrooms mature, harvest them by gently twisting and pulling them free from the cake.
To encourage a second flush, soak the cake in 1 inch of water for 12 hours, drain, and repeat the fruiting process.
